Abstract
Objective: This study compared and analyzed different lifestyles according to sex and age group after the development of lifestyle indicators using the Yonsei Lifestyle Profile (YLP).

Methods: As the subjects of this study, 569 adults aged 55 years or older living in a community-dwelling for 3 months beginning in September 2020 were used. The raw scores of three areas of the YLP, i.e., physical activity (PA), activity participation (AP), and nutrition were used to develop the index. The weights required for developing the indicators used the importance scores for each area collected through an expert panel survey. Using the developed index, lifestyles according to sex and age group were compared and analyzed before and after controlling for demographic variables through a multiple regression analysis.

Results: The average age of the participants in this study was 60.23 (standard deviation = 4.26), and there were 287 (50.44) males and 282 (49.56) females. The weights calculated through the expert panel survey were 33.94 for PA, 35.02 for AP, and 31.05 for nutrition. The average score for each domain through the developed index was 16.01 points for PA, 18.03 points for AP, and 18.03 points for nutrition, and the total average lifestyle score was 52.07 points. For lifestyle by sex, females (unadjusted ¥â = 0.11, adjusted ¥â = 1.57) were significantly higher than males in terms of nutrition, and the total lifestyle score was higher in females (adjusted ¥â = 1.57) than in males. For lifestyle by age group, the value of the younger group was significantly higher than that of the older group (unadjusted ¥â = -0.77) for AP, whereas the older age group (unadjusted ¥â = 0.59, adjusted ¥â = 0.61) was significantly higher in nutrition than the lower age group.

Conclusion: Lifestyle is an important factor for personal health and quality of life. However, accurate indicators for lifestyle have yet to be developed. It is thought that the index developed in this study will be helpful for future research as a way to calculate the lifestyle of an individual.
